Access Systems for 40 Chancery Lane – London

Access Systems for 40 Chancery Lane – London

This project required both Internal and external Access systems.

The Internal Atrium was served by a monorail with a pair of rollers suspending a power winch cradle whilst the external facades were access by a BMU with 14m double Telescopic and luffing jib.

Access Systems for 40 Chancery Lane – TallThe BMU houses our own designed and manufactured Powerpack which consists of a grooved drum, cable laying on device with lead screw, mechanical over speed brake, slack chain detector. Drive motors and hydraulic assembly. The BMU is running on twin steel tracks fixed to the roof structure and is fully counterweighted to eliminate uplift on the roof and track system. The track gauge was reduced to allow the BMU to pass through a narrow gap and then increased to reduce the imposed loads in the working position. The BMU incorporated a lifting beam to enable the cradle to be detached and allow the BMU to lift replacement glazing panels.
